AFCAT 2021 Exam Pattern-

AFCAT is an online computer-based test consisting of objective-type questions only. As previously said it is conducted for two Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical). For Technical, it consists of EKT exam which consists of Engineering Subjects. We have already covered its syllabus. Now let’s see the Exam Pattern.

  • The exam will be in the English Language Only.
  • AFCAT is bifurcated into Four Sections: Verbal Ability in English, General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test.
  • Whereas EKT is divided into three sections: Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics
  • The time allotted to AFCAT is 2 hours and for EKT is 45 minutes.
  • There will be negative marking too.

Candidates qualifying for the online exam of AFCAT by clearing the cutoff will be called for an Air Force Selection Board Interview or AFSB interview which comprises 3 stages. Just see below.

AFSB Interview Stages:

Stage 1: Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and Discussion Test is conducted on the first day. This is a screening test. And the candidates who qualify for this are called for further rounds. Then all those candidates who qualify in this round go through the document check to assess their eligibility.

Stage 2: After stage 1, the stage 2 interview is conducted which involves Psychological Test which will be conducted on Day 1 itself in the afternoon slot. After this Group Tests and Interviews are conducted which continue for five days.

Stage 3 For Flying Branch: This step is only for recommended candidates only. It is a Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS). It’s once in a lifetime test. Candidates who fail to qualify for CPSS will not be eligible.

All the candidates should follow some tips to make themselves well-prepared for the AFCAT Exam. You should be complete with all your basic concepts and understandings now so that you can give your mocks now and be confident for your preparation and exam.

  • Revise everything –

You need to gain expertise in every subject you are preparing. For that do the regular revision. See that you remember all the formulas in quant, short tricks; In English; revise the words, idioms, and phrases from your vocabulary; Keep yourself aware about the current affairs and revise regularly the dates in History, all the lists of General Awareness. Be considerate about what you remember and concentrate on that.

  • Practice Mock Test and Previous Year papers- 

If you want to score good marks and clear the cutoff, you need to practice a lot. Give the mock tests regularly and see where do you stand. In this way, you will get to know your week areas and you focus on that. This will also increase your speed and accuracy level. To know about the standard of paper and difficulty level of the AFCAT Exam, it is a must to practice the previous year’s papers.

  • Manage the Time: 

Don’t stick to one question for a longer time, if you are not able to find the solution, skip the question quickly and move on to the next question, don’t waste time on one question for so long. Try to solve the easy and non-tricky questions first which you do it easily. This way you make a strategy and plan for the exam. And solve the paper smartly.

  • Take some Relaxation in Between-
