    Eligibility Criteria for NDA

    Nationality/Citizenship

    To be eligible for the CDS exam, candidates have to meet the criteria for nationality and citizenship.

    Aspirants willing to apply for the CDS exam must be:

    1. A citizen of India, or
    2. A subject of Nepal, or
    3. A subject of Bhutan, or
    4. A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India on or before January 1, 1962.
    5. A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

    Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) presents a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India to the recruiting body.

    CDS Age Limit, Gender & Marital Status

    CDS I Age Limit

    For IMA

    Unmarried male candidates aged between 19 and 24 years only are eligible.

    For Indian Naval Academy (INA)

    Unmarried male candidates aged between 19 and 24 years) only are eligible.

    For Air Force Academy

    20 to 24 years as on the commencement of the course (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs.

    For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men)

    Unmarried male candidates aged between 19 and 25 years only are eligible.

    For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course)

    Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried aged between 19 and 25 years only are eligible.

    NoteCandidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply, but during the training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live with family out of the premises.

    Male divorcee/widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried males for the purpose of their admission in IMA/INA/AFA/OTA, Chennai courses, and accordingly they are not eligible for these courses.

    Educational Qualifications

    Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers’ Training Academy (OTA)

    Bachelor’s Degree From a recognized university

    Indian Naval Academy (INA)

    Bachelors in Engineering from a recognized University

    Air Force Academy (AFA)

    Graduation (with Physics and Mathematics at Class 12) or Bachelor of Engineering

    Physical & Medical Standards

    • The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. (157 cms for Navy and 162.5 cms for Air Force).
    • For Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.
    • For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the Minimum acceptable height will be 5 cm less.
    • In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cm. However, the minimum height for all entries is 148 cm after all types of waivers/dispensations. Otherwise, the candidate shall be considered a dwarf.

    Stage 2 - SSB Interview Schedule

    Day 1

    Day 1 includes the Reporting, Filling of forms, Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT)

    Day 2

    Day 2 includes a Psychological Test which includes the TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), WAT (Word Association Test), SRT (Situation Reaction Test). SD (Self-Description)

    Day 3

    The most important leg of the CDS Interview is Group Tasks wherein candidates have to prove their physical as well as mental prowess. Also, Officer Qualities are judged based on these tasks. The tasks allotted to candidates include Group Discussion, Military Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task, Group Obstacle Race, and Half Group Task
