New Delhi: The Central authorities have prolonged for six months the “disturbed area” reputation of components of Arunachal and Nagaland underneath the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday in two separate notifications mentioned that the choices have been taken after reviewing the regulation and order scenario in each state.

The MHA notification dated March 24 referred to that AFPSA has been prolonged in the districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding from April 1 to September 30.

Earlier, the Central Government in the exercising of the powers conferred by means of Section three of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (28 of 1958) had declared Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts in Arunachal Pradesh and the areas falling inside the jurisdiction of Namsai and Mahadevpur police stations in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh, bordering the State of Assam, as ‘disturbed area’ for six months from April 1 to September 30, 2022, except withdrawn earlier.

The MHA notification additionally noted that the AFSPA has additionally been prolonged in eight districts and 21 police station areas falling below 5 different districts of Nagaland after declaring them as “disturbed areas” for a duration of six months with impact from April 1 to September 30 this year, until withdrawn earlier.

AFSPA has been prolonged in Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren districts of Nagaland for the subsequent six months.
