What is NDA Exam?

National Defence Academy or NDA exam is one of the most sought-after defence entrance exams in the country. The exam is conducted for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). NDA exam is conducted twice a year in two stages: written exam and SSB Interview. In 2020, a total of 5.3 lakh candidates had applied for the exam, out of which 2.4 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. UPSC prepares a list of candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written exam. Such candidates are called for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test.

NDA 2022 Admit Card 

NDA I admit card 2022 will be released three weeks before the exam. The link to download the admit card is made available on the official website. Candidates can download the admit card by logging in either with the roll number or registration number. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. 

NDA 2022 Exam Day Guidelines 

The exam day guidelines for the NDA exam are given below:

  • Candidates should carry their NDA admit card to the exam centre 
  • Along with the admit card, candidates should also carry one photo-identity proof 
  • Carry clipboard or hardboard and a black ball pen for marking their responses
  • The invigilator provides sheet for doing rough work 
  • Books, notes, loose sheets, electronic or any other type of calculators, mathematical and drawing instruments, log tables, stencils of maps, slide rules, test booklets, and rough sheets are not allowed inside the examination centre
  • Strict action is taken against those candidates found copying or cheating

NDA 2022 Application Process 

Interested candidates were required to fill NDA I 2022 application form online. The application fee was INR 100 which could be paid both online and offline. UPSC had activated the link to withdraw the NDA application form so that candidates who do not wish to appear for the exam can withdraw their application forms. 

NDA 2022 Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates need to fulfil the following NDA eligibility criteria in order to be eligible for the exam:

Age limit: For NDA 1 exam, both male and female candidates must have been born not earlier than July 2, 2003, and not later than July 1, 2006. For NDA 2 exam, both male and female candidates must have been born not earlier than January 2, 2003, and not later than January 1, 2006.

NDA Recruitment Process

The complete recruitment process of the NDA exam is explained below:

Release of application form: Candidates need to fill out the application form online. The application fee can be paid online and offline. The application is INR 100, however, SC/ST/Women candidates/Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs are exempted from paying the fees. 

Issue of admit card: The admit card is released online for all the registered candidates. To download the admit card, candidates need to log in with the registration number or roll number.

Appearing in the written exam: NDA exam written is divided into two papers-GAT and Mathematics. The total marks allotted to the written exam are 900 marks.

Declaration of the result for the written exam: The result is announced online in PDF. The result will display the roll numbers of the qualified candidates.

Appearing in SSB interview: The SSB interview carries a total of 900 marks. The test is conducted in two stages-I and II. Stage I comprise Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). Stage 2 comprises Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference.

Declaration of final result: The final result is announced on the basis of the marks secured in the written exam and SSB interview.

NDA 2022 Notification

NDA 2022 notification has been released for both male and female candidates for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and INAC. The notification has been released in PDF form and comprises details such as the number of vacancies, exam dates, exam pattern, syllabus, course name, salary, exam centres, eligibility criteria, medical standards, the process of filling the application form, etc. 

NDA (I) & (II) Dates 2022

UPSC has announced NDA (I) & (II) 2022 exam dates. The written exam of NDA (I) will be conducted on April 10, 2022. While NDA (II) 2022 exam will be conducted on September 4, 2022. Candidates can check below the complete schedule of the exam.

NDA 2022 Preparation Tips

Candidates can prepare for the NDA exam by following the tips given below:

  • To begin with, candidates must be clear about the subjects, pattern, and types of questions
  • The Mathematics section of NDA comprises questions from Algebra, Matrices, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, etc. Candidates must clear their concepts from Classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 NCERT books
  • The GAT comprises a variety of subjects, such as Chemistry, General Science, Geography, History, and Current Affairs. This paper also comprises a section on English
  • Candidates must revise the topics they have studied

NDA 2022 Syllabus

NDA syllabus comprises topics from Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The level of the syllabus is of Classes 10, 11, and 12 standards. Candidates can check below the topics included in the syllabus:

Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Matrices and Determinants, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Vector Algebra, Analytical Geometry Of Two and Three Dimension and Statistics and Probability. 

GAT: The GAT syllabus of NDA is divided into two parts. Part A comprises questions from English, while Part B carries questions from General Knowledge. Questions in English part are asked from Grammar and Usage, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Cohesion. Questions in General Knowledge are asked from Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, General Science, Geography, and Current Events.

NDA 2022 Exam Pattern 

The written exam of NDA comprises two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The written test carries a total of 900 marks. Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam are called for SSB Interview. The SSB interview carries 900 marks.

NDA Mock Test

NDA mock tests are like the actual tests and solving them gives candidates the right frame of mind for the exam. It also helps candidates to evaluate their performance and improvement. By solving mock tests candidates will be able to identify their strong and weak areas. Accordingly, candidates can work upon their weak areas. Mock tests also help candidates to manage their time better in the exam.

NDA 2022 Question Papers 

NDA question papers 2022 will be released by UPSC a few days after the exam is conducted. The question papers are released separately for Maths and GAT in PDF form. Candidates can also raise objections against the question papers within the prescribed deadline. 

NDA 2022 Answer Key 

NDA answer key 2022 will be released for Maths and GAT within a few hours after the exam is conducted. The answer keys will be released unofficially by the coaching institutes. The official answer keys are released after the completion of the recruitment process. Using the answer key, candidates will be able to calculate their probable scores.

NDA Result 2022

NDA result is declared online in two stages: written and final. The results for both stages are made available in PDF format. It displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The mark sheet of candidates is released after the declaration of the final result.

NDA Cutoff 2022

NDA cut off for the written exam and final selection is released after the declaration of the final result. The cutoff for the written exam is calculated out of 900. The final cutoff is calculated based on the marks secured by the last recommended candidates out of 1800 marks (900 marks of written exam and 900 marks of SSB Interview). The qualifying NDA cutoff marks prescribed for each subject are 25 per cent. Candidates are required to qualify for the exam by securing separate cutoff marks in the written exam and SSB Interview.
