It is true, there are degrees of loss, but no one wins.” Just like any war, the result of the Kargil war was also catastrophic. Many fathers and mothers lost their sons, many children lost their fathers, many wives lost their husbands, many lost their best friends, and India lost many valiant soldiers. Speech on Kargil Vijay Diwas and Kargil War

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: The Kargil war between India and Pakistan broke out in May 1999, and the intense fight between the nations continued for sixty days. On 26th July, the war was officially declared over, proclaiming the Indian army victorious. It was the local shepherds in Kargil district who first reported the presence of Pakistani infiltrators in the regions near Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir on 3rd May 1999. The message from the shepherds made the Indian soldiers build patrol units along with the reported areas.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: Later in May, Pakistan started shelling India, expecting counter fires. The strategy was to actively engage Indian soldiers in the fight so that the Pakistani troops could easily invade the Indian territories. As a result of heavy shelling, the Indian army had no other options than to contend with it; the Pakistani infiltrators utilised the situation and invaded Dras, Mushkoh, and Kaksar sectors.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: Documents revealing the involvement of the Pakistani army were released by the Indian army in early June. The Pakistani army claimed that the infiltrations were conducted by the “Kashmiri freedom fighters”, which was later proved as balderdash. The fight during the start of the war was very hostile for the Indian army as the Pakistani soldiers and terrorists positioned themselves in the key locations of that region. Adverse environmental conditions like the mountainous terrain, cold weather, and extremely high altitudes provided strategic advantages to the Pakistani troop. But still, our brave heroes managed to recover many posts from the Pakistani troops. On 4th July, after 11 hours of a long battle, the Indian army captured Tiger Hill, and on the next day, they recovered Dras. Recapturing Tiger Hill and Dras brought a major breakthrough to the war.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: Later, on 5th July, Pakistan announced the withdrawal of the troops, and the force started its pull-out on 11th July. The codename given to the Kargil war was Operation Vijay. On 14th July, the then Prime Minister of India A. B. Vajpayee announced the success of Indian soldiers in the war. All the Pakistani infiltrators were expelled from our nation, and the war officially came to an end on 26th July.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: Even though India became victorious, we lost 527 courageous souls, and 1363 soldiers were wounded in the war. Who can neglect those brave sacrifices? Let’s remember their fortitude and be grateful to them.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 26th July 2022: The Kargil Vijay Divas is also known as Operation Vijay Divas. It is commemorated by every Indian to mark their respect towards soldiers. The Kargil Vijay Divas is celebrated all over our nation by conducting various social and cultural programs. On this day, our Prime Minister pays homage to the soldiers by visiting the Amar Jawan Jyoti in Delhi. Violation of the ‘Shimla Agreement’ by the Pakistani soldiers resulted in the Kargil War. The Shimla agreement was signed between both countries on 2nd July 1972. As per the conditions put forth in the agreement, no armed fights shall take place on the borders of the nation. The war was raging in the area of Kargil, Ladakh, and Siachen, which were places much higher than the sea level. Thus the Kargil war became an infamous example of high-altitude warfare. On 3rd May 1999, nearly 5000 soldiers from Pakistan infiltrated and occupied our borders. Keishing Clifford Nongrum, and Naik Digendra Kumar. The list of our fighters doesn’t end here; every soldier in the war was our hero.
