Summer Ceremonials

Combat Uniform of Indian Army

This is one of the commonly recognized uniforms of the Indian army.

This uniform is known as the combat uniform and is generally to camouflage in the jungles that is why this uniform is also known as the Jungle dress.

The basic idea of this uniform’s design is to get a safe camouflage in jungle areas.

Though this uniform is used for war and combat areas, these uniforms are also worn by the soldiers or armed personals on every Friday even in the peace areas.

Usually, this uniform dress code does not have any metal star or a metal badge batched to it. Every star on the flap, the name, and the rank are embroidered to the dress.

Though the designatory metal badges or honourary badges are pinned to the dress.

During the winter a sweater or a jacket is worn over this dress code

In a situation of war or exercise, only basics like the rank and the name holder are worn on the dress, no other decorations are worn during the war.

Blue Patrol:

The blue patrol dress code is more of a ceremonial uniform but this dress code is only used during the winter seasons.

The main attraction of the blue patrol dress code is the “Bandgala Coat”(Hindi term).

The ranks and the shoulder pips are embroidered on the band gala coat in case of the Blue patrol uniform of the Indian army.

Though the armored corps personnel does not wear embroidered pip on their shoulder, instead they have a chain mail along with their rank on the shoulder.

This dress code is generally preferred during parties.

This dress is often known as the mess dress for winters.

6A/6B:

This is another dress for Indian Army officials. The dress type is also known as the Code 6 dress type. The 6A is meant to be worn in winter. On the other hand, the 6B dress is made for summer. Code 6 is mesh uniforms. 

The 6B dress is basically the summer variant for 6A.

The 6A uniform is an abbreviation for 6Alpha. This is another mesh uniform for the Indian Army. The 6 Alpha is the white mess/formal uniform for winters. 

The Code 6 formal uniform is similar to that of the blue patrol. This uniform is worn very rarely. Officers usually prefer blue patrol over 6A. It is worn with a white coat with black trousers. 

Dress 6 Bravo is a 6B uniform, is the summer mess dress. This uniform is worn with a cummerbund (a sash worn around the waist, especially as part of a man’s formal evening suit). It is worn with respective regimental colors.

Combat Uniforms You Need To Earn:

Black:

The dress color is enough to estimate its weightage. The Black dress is no the usual uniform. This uniform can only be earned with high spirit and fortitude.

Dungarees are owned by the Army Aviation Corps. They wear the uniform only when flying. 

The pilot and aircrew wear the dungarees as their uniform.
