    Eligibility Criteria for NDA 2024

    Nationality for NDA

    As per NDA 2024 eligibility requirements, applicants must be Indian citizens to apply for the upcoming examination. However, individuals who are not citizens of India but wish to apply for the exam must satisfy the following UPSC NDA eligibility criteria:

    • Citizen of India
    • Subject of Nepal
    • Subject of Bhutan
    • Tibetan refugees who arrived in India prior to January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement
    • Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire & Ethiopia, or Vietnam, with the intention of permanent settlement.

    Age Limit

    As per NDA eligibility criteria, only unmarried male and female candidates aged between 16.5 and 19.5 years are eligible to apply for the NDA exam.

    Qualification, 12th Percentage & Marks

    Candidate must be appearing/cleared his class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics.

    Note:

    • Those who are appearing in Class 12 or equivalent examination can also apply for the exam.
    • The candidates who are appearing in the Class 11 exam are not eligible to apply for the NDA examination.

    NDA Physical Eligibility

    The candidate must have good physical and mental health and should be free from diseases and disabilities. 

    • Male candidates should have a minimum height of 157 cm, while female candidates should have a minimum height of 152 cm. (Note: For the Indian Air Force, the minimum height requirement is 162.5 cm). 

    There are specific height exceptions for candidates based on their regional origin.

    NDA Eligibility for Pilot

    The physical standards for aspiring pilots in the NDA differ slightly from those applying for other positions. Below are the detailed NDA eligibility 2024 physical standards:

    • Leg Length: Minimum – 99 cms, Maximum – 120 cms
    • Thigh Length: Maximum – 64 cms
    • Sitting Height: Minimum – 81.50 cms, Maximum – 96 cms

    NDA Vision Standards

    • For distance vision (corrected), the requirement is 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye.

    • Myopia exceeding 2.5 diopters is not permitted.

    • Hypermetropia exceeding 3.5 diopters, including astigmatism, is not permitted.

    Stage 2: SSB Interview

    Stage 2 of the NDA selection process entails an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB) for all candidates qualifying for NA and NDA posts. Upon clearing the written test, candidates receive an interview call letter containing details such as the interview date, time, and venue. Further information about the phases of the SSB interview is provided below – 

    Phase 1

    Officer Intelligence Rating Test (OIR), Picture, Perception, & Description Test (PP & DT).

    Phase 2

    Interview, GTO (Group Testing Officer) Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conference conducted over a period of 4 days.

    In addition to the outlined details regarding the SSB Interview, here are some other aspects to note about the selection process:

    • Please be aware that the final recruitment through the NDA selection process will be based on merit. Both the written test and interview performance of candidates will be taken into account.
    • Candidates applying for the Air Force must qualify for the Pilot Aptitude Test (PAT) and Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) to be eligible for final selection.
    • The SSB interview process spans a duration of 5 days.
